I have been staying already for one week here in Colorado. Snowboarding up at Copper Mountain is just epic! The snow is really perfect and the riding up there is great pleasure.
The only thing that is really tough in the first days: the high altitude of up to 3.767 metres!!! That means you ride up as high as on Austrian’s highest mountain peak the Grossglockner.
I stay down in a village called Frisco which is at “only” 2.750 metres of altitude, I guess the training here will give me some benefit for the following training-sessions back in Europe.
Zan Kosir also came with me to ride on Colorado snow. He decided to start his comeback after his surgery with these perfect conditions here in Copper. That was a good choice as he is already riding fast and extreme like we know him.
SG-Rider Vic Wild from the US is showing us the places to go. We went down to Denver the other day to check out the city and of course do some shopping. Vic also just got back from a nasty ankle-injury and is riding extremely strong. He finished 8th at his comeback at the WorldCup in Landgraaf and is one of the fastest on the trainings.
I would say half of the WorldCup-riders are presently here for training and for these two NorAmCup-races on Thursday and Friday. There are also a lot of youngsters here for training - good to see so many rookies around!
Yesterday a bunch of riders got invited to a Thanksgiving-Party at one of Vic’s friends Walker. His mom cooked the best Turkey I have ever had and those sweet potatoes just rocked! Thanks for the invitation!
After riding six days in a row I will take it easy this afternoon to regenerate well for tomorrow’s race. It is a nice racehill up there, I wonder how the altitude will affect the riding in the race.
