Sigi Grabner erobert das Podium zurueck
Beim heutigen Fis Weltcup Parallelslalom in Yangpong, Korea sieht man schon fast wieder den "alten" Sigi Grabner auf dem Podium stehen: "Ein zweiter Platz, der mich mehr freut als mancher Sieg!" Nach einer vorsichtigen Qualifikation (11. Platz) dreht Sigi im Finale auf, und eliminiert der Reihe nach Patrick Bussler (GER), Zan Kosir (SLO) und Manuel Veith (AUT). Im Finale unterliegt er gegen Benjamin Karl und wird Zweiter vor Aaron March, ITA, der somit das Triple Podium fuer SG SNOWBOARDS komplettiert. Wohoo! What a ride!
The old lion still roars – Sigi Grabner grabs the podium in today’s FIS Worldcup Parallell Slalom in Korea. "This podium means more to me than many a victory". After his injury in 2009, it is his first success! On his way into the Big Final he first beats Patrick Bussler (GER), Zan Kosir (SLO) and Manuel Veith (AUT). In the Final he has to incline to Benjamin Karl. "He was stronger in the flat sector!" Aaron March from Italiy, completes the SG SNOWBOARDS podium sweep!

World Championships 2011 La Molina
Sigi Grabner’s Comeback to Race Winning is still coming up, BUT the SG SNOWBOARDS team had a great performance in La Molina! 2x World Champion Gold and 1x World Champion Bronze medals for Benjamin Karl and Roland Fischnaller. With 4 riders among the 6 classified on the podium in PGS (Benjamin Karl, Roland Fischnaller, Anton Unterkofler and Zan Kosir) the SG SNOWBOARDS team was the most successful team in the world championships. Congratulations!

PREPARATIONS FOR LA MOLINA
Last Sunday I reached the 16th place at the PSL Race in Bad Gastein. First round I had to race against qualification winner Simon Schoch, and making mistakes against him made me watching the rest of the competition. But I will continue fighting!
Now the preparations for the World Championships are full on. I will start in the PSL, so my focus is laid on the PSL competition on Friday 21st of January.
Before this date, I will spend a few days riding in Andorra before the World Championships. I will fight on!

BAD GASTEIN WORLD CUP PSL
Only two more days to the World Cup PSL in Bad Gastein! On Sunday 9th of January I am going to race the great Bad Gastein Classic. The race hill looked good today: perfect snow, nice course. The weather has become warmer and might get even warmer until Sunday.
I had some good days of riding in Andorra after coming back from Colorado. The epic snow conditions of Crested Butte mountain where I stayed for a few days with snowboarder Justin Reiter were perfect for joyful carving. It was way more difficult to ride in the Pyrenees. The slope conditions in Andorra were pretty icy as it was raining a lot before Christmas.
The last 3 days I had some good training days on Turracher Hoehe in Austria. On the same hill I started to train for my first races nearly 20 years ago. So I feel well prepared for Bad Gastein as well as for the World Championships in La Molina in 2 weeks.
Keep your fingers crossed for me on Sunday! I want to come back to the podium here in Bad Gastein 🙂

FEELGOOD PROGRAM IN COLORADO
On my way to Steamboat Springs where I am going to race the NorAm-Cup races on 20th and 21st I am being hosted by Justin + Erica Reiter in beautiful Crested Butte. It is a true pleasure. Today they showed me one nice skitour on their mountain. We were skinning up and riding down in deep deep champagne powder. I have never ridden such incredible light powder snow before, it was awesome!
Thanks again to the Reiters for letting me being part of their "Feelgood Programme" consisting of ski touring, snow shoveling, drinking camp4coffe, and of course being spoiled by Erica’s great cooking skills!

COOL RIDING IN LIMONE
Outdoor Weltcup der Alpin Snowboarder in Italien:
Sigi Grabner wird 12. – und holt dennoch einen Doppelsieg!
Der Südtiroler Roland Fischnaller schaltete im k.o. Finale unter anderem die Besten des Vortages, Karl und Prommegger, aus und sicherte sich den Sieg im „Heimrennen“ vor seinem Landsmann und Teamkollegen Aaron March. Ein Doppelsieg für Teammanager Siegfried Grabner, der sich über den ersten Weltcup Sieg vom „Fisch“ besonders freute. Er selbst wurde 12. Dennoch ist Sigi Grabner mit seinem heutigen Auftritt zufrieden: “Ich habe gewusst, dass es nicht einfach wird, nach der Verletzung zurückzukehren. Vorsicht ist noch vorhanden. Aber ich komme wieder ins Fahren, taste mich auch im Wettkampf an meine Form heran. Deswegen bin ich zufrieden.“
Noch ist zu spüren, dass der Weltklassesnowboarder infolge des gebrochenen Sprunggelenks fast ein Jahr nicht trainieren konnte. Die Motivation für die Duelle auf der Piste ist aber ungebrochen hoch. Step by step nähert sich Grabner den Spitzenplätzen an. Mit dem heutigen Ergebnis als zweitbester Österreicher und der ersten Finalteilnahme der Top 16 in diesem Winter, reist Sigi Grabner jetzt nach Colorado/USA. In Telluride steht am 16. Dezember 2010 der nächste Weltcup im Parallel-GS auf dem Programm. Es ist der Ort, an dem Sigi Grabner vor einem Jahr stürzte, weil seine Bindung gebrochen war. „Ich habe mir 2009 die Verletzung wegen eines Materialfehlers zugezogen, nicht wegen eines Fahrfehlers. Ort und Strecke spielten keine Rolle, im Gegenteil: ich mag den Hang in Telluride sehr und freue mich schon auf das Rennen,“ so Sigi Grabner kurz vor der Abreise aus Italien in Richtung Barcelona, von wo morgen sein Flugzeug in die USA abhebt.

Enjoying Limone
On Tuesday evening I arrived at Limone Piemonte after a drive in my fully packed Alfa 159. It was like a "Car-Tetris" – every space filled with the equipment of Ina Meschik, Andy Lausegger and me.
I live in the very nice Hotel Principe and already enjoyed a delicious dinner yesterday. Mi piace molto la cucina italiana 😉
Today’s training was just freecarving on the race slope as it is pouring rain. The weather for the next days looks very good. Sunshine and colder temperatures are forecasted.
So everything is set up for the races on Friday and Saturday – I am hot!

Neuschnee zum Training in Sulden/Sulda ITA
Um ueberhaupt in Sulden anzukommen, war heute mein erster echter Winter Drive faellig! Tonnenweise Neuschnee, steile Bergstrasse und das Auto geht vorwaerts oder rueckwarts den Berg hinauf….! Suuupergeiiile erste winterliche Drift-Action in der Saison 2010/11!
SIGI BACK IN RACE
Mit 17 Jahren nahm Sigi Grabner an seinem ersten internationalen Wettkampf teil und trat seine von vielen Erfolgen gekrönte Laufbahn an. Seit 17 Jahren ist Sigi mit dem Snowboard-Zirkus rund um den Globus unterwegs, seit 17 Jahren fährt er Siege ein. Er gehört schon sein halbes Leben lang zur Weltspitze, und er hat das Alpin-Snowboarden mitgeprägt. Letzte Saison war für den Ausnahmeathleten Pause – aufgrund eines Sprunggelenksbruchs im Dezember 2009 beim Weltcup-Einsatz in Telluride. „Letzte Saison musste ich das erste Mal erleben, dass ich nicht Snowboarden gehen durfte. Das war schwer und eine neue Erfahrung.
